Crowns<\/h4>

What is a crown?<\/strong>
It is a hollow artificial tooth that is used to cover a damaged tooth. Crowns are also called caps. Crowns are also used in implant supported bridges<\/a> and dental implants<\/a><\/p>

When will I need a crown?<\/strong>
When a cavity becomes too big for a direct filling, we will recommend either an indirect ceramic filling or a crown. Typically after a root canal treatment, you will also need a crown.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Bridges<\/h4>

A dental bridge also called a fixed bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge extends across the gap in your teeth.<\/p>

There are 4 types of dental bridges:<\/strong><\/p>

\u2022<\/span>\u00a0 Traditional bridge<\/strong> \u2013 these are used when you have strong, natural teeth on both sides of the missing tooth. Your own teeth will thus be holding the bridge in place. The healthy teeth on either side of the gap\/missing tooth will need to be filed down in preparation for the dental bridge. If you do not want to file down the healthy teeth, another option would be a dental implant to replace the missing tooth.<\/p>

\u2022<\/span>\u00a0 Implant supported bridge<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 these bridges are used when a patient does not have strong healthy teeth on either side of the gap to support a traditional bridge or when a patient has no remaining natural teeth. The bridge is thus supported by dental implant instead of natural teeth.<\/p>

\u2022<\/span>\u00a0 Maryland bridge<\/strong> \u2013 these bridges are used for a missing front tooth or teeth. The bridge is made out of metal band with artificial teeth fused onto it, which is then cemented in place on the back of the natural remaining teeth.<\/p>

\u2022<\/span>\u00a0 Cantilever bridge<\/strong> \u2013 these bridges are used when you only have healthy teeth on one side of your gap. The bridge is anchored in place on only one side. It resembles a traditional bridge.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
